Wifey's van

I just so happened to be in the middle of corn country driving my wife's van, and I saw E85 for $1.67 a gallon.  I took the opportunity to top it off with E85.

I got exactly 8 gallons of E85 before it clicked off, it's a 20 gallon tank, so roughly 40% ethanol.

I noticed that it lost about 4 mpg on the ride home, but no check engine light or any drive-ability issues.

Every once in a while if I'm driving this van alone, I'll add 4 gallons of E85, just to keep the fuel system clean.

E85 was $1.75 a gallon today.  87 octane gas was $2.05 and premium was $2.55.

I did a partial fill in between this tank and the last tank, I did not document it.  I forgot to get a receipt!

I was at 109474 miles, last tank was at 108176 miles, for 298 miles on this tank.  I filled up with 17.395 gallons, for 17.131 miles per gallon.  I had more highway miles this tank and less a/c.

I saved $13.71 on this tank by using E85 vs. premium, not considering the mileage penalty.

E85 was $1.73 a gallon today.  87 octane gas was $2.03 and premium was $2.53.

I was at 108979 miles, last tank was at 108726 miles, for 253 miles on this tank.  I filled up with 17.095 gallons, for 14.799 miles per gallon.  OUCH!  It's been hot, been driving with the a/c on a lot.

I saved $13.68 on this tank by using E85 vs. premium, not considering the mileage penalty.

I changed the oil last weekend, everything seemed to be in good order.

E85 was $1.79 a gallon today.  87 octane gas was $2.09 and premium was $2.59.

I was at 108726 miles, last tank was at 108469 miles, for 257 miles on this tank.  I filled up with 16.435 gallons, for 15.64 miles per gallon.

I saved $13.148 on this tank by using E85 vs. premium, not considering the mileage penalty

Acura update

The Acura is sitting at 165k miles, more than 10k miles running on E30 to E40, with no issues.

My son is learning to drive and is mostly driving it.  For simplicity's sake, he has been filling up with 87 octane, not mixing E85 in like I was.

So, from now on, most if not all updates will be for the Crown Vic, just documenting mileage with E85 and gas.
